This Policy describes how Hooz LLC collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use the App. This Policy forms part of the Terms.
Identifiers & Contact: name, username, email, phone, profile info, age/date of birth (18+ confirmation).
Location: approximate and (if you enable it) precise geolocation for nearby matching and safety features. We may store a last‑known location and may round/obfuscate coordinates for matching to reduce precision.
Device/Usage: device identifiers, IP address, app/browser version, crash logs, diagnostics, and interaction events.
Communications & Content: messages sent through the App, roster details you submit, availability status, and optional photos.
Cookies/Local Storage: first‑party cookies or similar to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and for analytics. We do not use third‑party advertising cookies.
From you; from your device; from leagues/teams you join; and from payment or e‑signature providers you use through the App.
We do not sell personal information. We also do not "share" personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising.
We retain data while your account is active and as needed for App purposes. Typical horizons: account/profile (active + up to 24 months after closure), messages/logs (12–24 months), e‑signature records and payment records (up to 7 years for compliance/accounting). We may retain de‑identified data.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (e.g., encryption in transit and at rest, role‑based access, monitoring). No system is 100% secure.
Encryption: Chat messages are encrypted in transit (using HTTPS/TLS) and at rest in our database systems. This protects messages from unauthorized third‑party access during transmission and storage.
Hooz Access: Messages are stored in our Firebase database and may be accessed by Hooz personnel for purposes including: responding to user reports of inappropriate content; investigating violations of our Terms; complying with legal obligations or valid legal requests; preventing fraud, abuse, or harm; and maintaining system security and integrity.
No End‑to‑End Encryption: Messages are not end‑to‑end encrypted. Hooz can technically access message content when necessary for the purposes described above.
User Responsibility: Do not share highly sensitive information (e.g., financial account numbers, passwords, Social Security numbers) via in‑app chat.
Phone Number Verification (Required): We collect and verify your phone number for core service functionality, including enabling other users to find and invite you to teams, and for account security. This verification is required to use Hooz.
SMS Notifications (Optional): Providing your phone number for verification does NOT constitute consent to receive SMS text messages. SMS notifications are completely optional. You must explicitly opt in through your account settings to receive SMS messages. By default, you will receive push notifications instead. See our SMS Messaging Consent page for details.
Access/Correct/Delete: Request via payton.soicher@hooz.app. We may ask to verify your identity.
Location Controls: Enable/disable location in your device settings; you may still use limited features without location.
SMS Opt-In/Opt-Out: SMS notifications are OFF by default. You can opt in via account settings. Once opted in, you may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message or changing your notification preference in settings.
Marketing Opt‑Out: You may opt out of marketing emails via unsubscribe links.
Appeals: If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response email within 30 days.
The App is not for anyone under 18. If we learn a minor's data was collected, we will delete it.
Your data may be processed in the United States. If applicable, we rely on contractual safeguards for international transfers.
We will post updates here and revise the Effective Date. For material changes, we will provide prominent notice and may request re‑consent.
